2019 Directors Course

Advanced TD training course.

Sunday June 30th at St. George's Bridge Centre, Darlington.

Applications are invited for this one day course, run by Chris Benneworth, beginning at 10:30am and ending no later than 4:30pm.  The course fee includes tea and coffee but you will need to bring or make your own arrangements for lunch.  It is designed for club directors who may wish to progress to become County Directors, or who simply want to refresh and improve their current directing skills.
The course includes a mixture of table simulations, lecture and discussions.

Further details are available from Richard Banbury - 01296 317218 or by email:

To get ready for the preparation course - or to see if it may be suitable for you - there is a test paper which can be downloaded from the EBU website.  It consists of 40 situations to consider. Some are book rulings, some judgement rulings and, in some cases, good old-fashioned common-sense. Some are quite intricate and others straightforward, but hopefully they will all make you think. It can be found at

£55 is the course fee – bookable through My EBU

The max expected number of delegates is 8-10. At least 5 to be reasonably viable.

PLEASE NOTE - The final ASSESSMENT for the DIRECTORS COURSE has been changed to
JUNE 16th

Dear all,

I am delighted to announce a new local training Course for Directors, to be led by Chris Benneworth. The course will be held at the College of St Hild & St Bede, Durham City. The College is easily accessible, and directions are at the bottom of this email. There is ample parking at the College.

The timetable and content of the sessions (all the training days are Sundays) is as follows:

17 February
:       Introductory day. Familiarising course members with the 2017 Laws.

31 March:            Book rulings. Covers the most common situations.

19 May
:               Book and judgement rulings.
More practice on common situations; also how to deal with more complex problems.

9 June:                  Assessment.

Each session is currently planned to start at 10.30 am and run until 4.00 pm.

For EBU members the cost is £54 per session, per participant
-member the cost is £60 per session per participant.

The course requires a minimum of 8 participants.

There will be tea and coffee available, but participants are asked to bring their own lunch.

I have been on the programme myself and can recommend it without reservation. It is highly informative, and most enjoyable. The new Laws, introduced over a year ago now, contain some important changes (such as the ‘comparable call’) and this comprehensive programme will cover all such material.

Can you please advertise this widely amongst all your members?

Applications for the course should be made to the EBU; details can be found at

Many thanks and best wishes,

Adrian Darnell.
