BRIDGE - A SPORT IN INDIA
item41We have to search far and wide to find any mention of bridge in the outside world, but EBU have managed to spot this article from 'BBC India'.
It records that Bridge HAS been recognised as a sport and will be represented in this year's Asian Games.
Bridge and chess are the only "mind sports" recognised by the International Olympic Committee but they were not found eligible for the Olympics.

MORE ON THE ASIAN GAMES
The Indonesian billionaire whose "persistence" helped convince Asian Games organisers to include bridge has won bronze in the competition.

Michael Bambang Hartono, one of the Games' oldest competitors at 78, is worth an estimated $11.7bn, making him the world's 75th wealthiest person.

He and five team-mates finished joint third with Chinese Taipei in the supermixed team event in Indonesia.

"If you want to be a good leader and a successful man, play bridge," he said.
"Bridge is like business. First you get the data, the information. You analyse the information, and then you make a decision. So business, real life and bridge are the same."

At the break, Steve and Georgia Ray on 69% were well clear of 2nd place Dorothy James & Judy Creswick and last year's winners Jaqui Taylor & Geoff Parker who were lying in 3rd place.

In the 2nd session, despite Steve & Georgia having another steady round of nearly 60%, they were pipped into 2nd place by Inga & Neil Aiston who had a very lucky run of results that produced a 2nd half score of just under 75%
