Do you remember Marion Chipperfield (who incidentally will be 99 in February 2018)? - Marion sends Best Wishes to the Neba Members who do.
She is still playing Bridge 3 times a week and does well at the Bourne Bridge Club in Farnham, where she now lives. (Next door to the Bridge Club). She is very happy and well supported by her family, who are now much nearer to her.
She says it is warmer down there! - Anne Hauxwell

A DREAM COME TRUE
Golding Bridge Club 2017 - Golding Salver Winners Bernie Gruer and Terry Foster.
Bernie has been a Member of the club since Rene Golding started classes and then the Golding Bridge Club, in the early 1970s.
Bernie, who still manually does the scoring, became our Chairman after Les Mathews passed away. She has played with Terry since his wife Norma died. Norma and Terry used to play at Whitley Bay and Cramlington and Terry played at Brunton with Les Mathews.
Bernie travels up from North Shields every week and has wished she could win the Trophy for years and have her name on it. So now her dream has come true.

2017 NEBA CONGRESS
The 2017 NEBA Congress was unanimously considered to be a great success. It was well attended by 'old pros' from around the country on all three days and the event attracted eleven tables of 'Newcomers on the Sunday. The Congress was run like clockwork by Norman and his team of directors. Meals were staggered to prevent long queues and the Swiss Teams assignments were posted on Bridgemates to direct E/W pairs to the appropriate table for the next round.
Everyone was very friendly!
Winners of the Arnold Deane Quaich were Steve and Georgia Ray who were 2nd on Friday and Saturday and 5th on Sunday.

In response to requests, EBU have established a TD forum where you can ask questions and discuss matters of interest. It is open to everyone - not just restricted to qualifed TDs - and anyone needing help with any matter relating to the Laws can use it.
Since the Laws of Duplicate Bridge 2017 have fairly recently come into effect, we anticipate that there may be a number of questions that TDs will have that more experienced colleagues may be able to help with.
